    About Dr. Ashlyn Tom

    After graduating with an MBBS degree from Government Medical College, Thrissur, Kerala in 2018, Dr. Ashlyn Tom pursued postgraduate training in Psychiatry at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, where he gained extensive experience in general adult psychiatry, neuropsychiatry, and consultation-liaison psychiatry. He completed his MD in 2022 and subsequently continued as a Senior Resident in Psychiatry at AIIMS, during which he was actively involved with the Child Guidance Clinic and developed further expertise in addiction medicine through his work at the National Drug Dependence and Treatment Centre.

    In 2023, he joined the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru, as a Senior Resident, where he further honed his skills in general adult psychiatry and psychiatric rehabilitation.

    Dr. Ashlyn has been actively engaged in academic psychiatry, with more than ten publications, including three book chapters in reputed journals. He has presented his work at national and international forums, and in 2022, was awarded the prestigious Dr. J.K. Trivedi Award by the Indian Association for Social Psychiatry.

    His professional interests include biological psychiatry, social psychiatry, interventional psychiatry, psychotherapy, and rehabilitation-focused care. He is also queer-friendly and neurodiversity-sensitive, reflecting his commitment to inclusive, patient-centered care. He remains dedicated to multidisciplinary teamwork and to advancing the cause of mental health in India.
